Hi Tryt53 and SS,
You are too nice and I don't deserve it -- I rarely achieve what should count according to the rules, but I do stay at properties (since almost all my travel is Europe, North Africa and Middle East) that cost significantly more than most stays in the US or Canada, so I am grateful that Marriott recognizes those differences.
(PS -- It would be the first time, Tryt, that I'd be the top 3% of anything !)
I got my package the end of last week. It included this year's gift -- a subscription to Wall Street Journal. However, you have to have an app to get it. So I assume you have to have a smart phone or tablet, etc? I'm still in the laptop mode -- refuse to go with a smart phone, tablet, etc. I also have a Nook. I guess I'm out of luck using the gift -- unless someone can tell me how to download the WSJ to my laptop or nook.
Larry got his today, also, and we're at a Residence Inn still. We don't have a smart phone, either, but extra benefits on a lot of things seem to hinge on a smart phone. I don't know that those justify the price of one, and we do well figuring out how to use the sr. citizen rate and phone, much less a smart phone. Larry would be more able to figure it out than I since he's a programmer anyway, but we'd be lost without our techie son's help. I'm not completely lost on a computer, but I can never even figure out how to get a contact's info into the phone right.
I have both a smartphone and a Samsung Galaxy (though I rarely use either for much except phone calls or a portable hot spot), but do the extra benefits come from using the smartphone or from being on Facebook? Because above all, I won't do the latter.
It says to go to the computer and gives an address, click on "redeem coupon", accept terms, than go to App store on your devise and download WSJ Mobile Reader app. Download and then use the Log-in and Password you created to start enjoying your subscription.
No mention of Facebook, gratefully.
I did hear a rumor that once one reaches 'Trendsetter' point status a new Chase Visa gets issued where future charges are 'comped'. Maybe someone pulled the 'cancel' trigger before the new card arrived! Then again, there is this issue with your getting these cards delivered.........
