Hello- I'm planning to attend next year's (the end of 2012) new year's eve fireworks in Sydney. I live in the USA. I'm looking for suggestions or recommendations on where to attend / view the fireworks in the harbour. I don't mind paying for a spot. I really don't want to have to stake out a spot early in the day and stay all day. I would like a place where I have a guaranteed spot for the fireworks. I know you can do a dinner cruise, and I know the Opera House has dinners/parties you can attend that allow/provide fireworks viewing. My question is what other venues have "parties" that provide fireworks viewing? Many thanks in advance.
Also, has anyone watched the fireworks from For Denison in Sydney Harbour? I think tickets are like $1000. Was just wondering if it's worth it. Thanks again.
I have just responded to a similar posting ...Australia vacation
I would check out other options ... it would have to be a pretty stunning package to make me pay $1000 to see the fireworks from Fort Denison ... they don't last 'that' long after all?
Consider becoming a Friend of the Sydney Botanic Gardens.
Members can buy tickets to the gardens to escape the crowds for one of the best views in Sydney
Expect over a million people trying to get the best vantage point for the fireworks so being away from the crowds and walking distance to both Marriott hotels in Sydney is a good thing.
Hi toddsanddiego, I'm glad Insiders gave you some suggestions. I'd also recommend calling one of our Concierges at the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay -- they might be able to give you other ideas. Thanks!
