Had posted earlier about properties in Paris focusing on Ren Place Vendome and CE Marriott. I just saw that Place Vendome had been awarded a gold by Travel and Leisure which is pretty nice since no other Marriott was represented. Had a "free" room locked up for five nights there and CE was an 80E upgrade so will probably 'go with the gold'.
Any dining suggestion nearby Place Vendome would be welcome. Also was curious if frequent travelers recommended some of the museum passes available. We will be there May 1-6.
Happy Holidays to all.
Vendome is a rather "Boutique" hotel! Walking distance to The Louvre, Notre Dame and many great shops. You can also walk across the bridge and enjoy The Left Back and Rue Germaine. There are countless sidewalk cafe's for any budget. Here are a picture of a few places. By the way the Louvre has a great cafe as you come in the door from the hotel.. Very nice on a rainy day when you want to see the Mona Lisa! Here are a few pictures:
Jules Verne, second floor, Eiffel Tower, memorable, and on the expensive side, need reservations and take your camera. Security is tight, so arrive a little early and request a window seat.
Second photo: La Tour d'Argent, very famous for the view of the Seine and Notre Dame. Rated one of the finest in the world, especially for their duck. Each duck dinner will result in you getting a postcard with the actual number of the duck you were served. Formal but friendly and the largest wine list I have ever see. Very special place!
Third and Fourth, Cafe de la Paix, you can see what their specialty is, seafood, and they are located in the Grand Hotel across from The Opera. This is a memorable place to dine and a short walk from your hotel.
These places are worthy of one great meal in Paris. You will find all kinds of places for any budget. You may want to check previous posts for more information and photo's!
