OK, we all call somewhere home don't we?
If you were the Chamber of Commerce PR director for your hometown what single fact or two distinguishes your home town place?
In my case, I'll mention two places since we have a double identity as far as home towns go:
Monterey CA, where we spend the fall through spring, was discovered in 1540 by and formally settled in 1770 by Father Junipero Serra. It was the first capital of Alta California and home to John Steinbeck and Robert Louis Stevenson, each for a short time.
Chatham MA, our summer home, was settled and incorporated in 1712 by Mayflower descendants and will celebrate it's 300th anniversary beginning in March of 2012. It is, as the locals say, mostly water since it's at the elbow of Cape Cod.
Let's hear from other Insiders and build a catalog of hometowns!
