Uniform dos and don'ts

The Casa Monica flag pin issue (which is uniformity gone beserk) got me to thinking that some places have very strict dress and appearance codes for employees. I know that the Pebble Beach Corporation has an extensive list of appearance and dress codes for front of house employees.  I am sure Marriott does as well.  But is there no common sense out there?

SS..I Agree. What is their Management thinking? A little common sense would have saved this hotel a lot of business. Maybe a Mangement change is needed?
