For those of you not familiar with the unique Mediterranean Climate here on the Central California coast (Santa Barbara to Pacifica) this is the time of year we locals call "summer." Most of the year (and I am not complaining it is 60-70 degrees during the day, and high 40s to low 50s at night. We typically get very little if any rain her for nine months of the year, but expect some during the Winter months. When we first moved here we had no rain for seven years, but recently we've made up for that with ample wet stuff in the rainy season. You would think that the meteorologists could just "mail it in," since the weather is constant here but ironically the largest concentration of government forecasters in the US is here in Monterey!
Here are some photos taken this week to show the quality of light we get in these warm periods. Normally the Pacific lives up to its name (being flat calm) but we've had higher surf recently.
What is the name of the famous Ice Cream place in Santa Barbara? I had a cone there and it was fantastic. It was a very non-spectacular location but the ice cream was great!
Likewise, thanks so much for this information. The Channel Island tour was fantastic!
