Honeymoon Destination

Fellow Insiders,

I have posted a few times on the old site looking for feedback and advice on a honeymoon location for March 2012.  I was leaning towards the Curacao Marriott Beach Resort & Emerald Casino, but then went on TripAdvisor to find some terrible reviews regarding service and outdated rooms.  I have had this same experience with many Caribbean Marriotts, tends to have decent reviews on Insiders but TripAdvisor has a fair amount of negative reviews.  Two others that I looked at were the Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort in Costa Rica and the Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa, but again some terrible reviews on TripAdvisor, but some Insiders really enjoyed it in the case of Costa Rica and no Insiders have commented on St. Croix.  I currently have the honeymoon booked at the Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain in Arizona (but have not booked flights) as there is hardly a negative review on TripAdvisor and nothing at all in Insiders.  Am I looking for something that is not out there in terms of a Marriott resort property that has close to rave reviews or at least not horrid reviews?  Any feedback on Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain?

I am also open to any suggestions.  My fiance and I don't have many requirements.  Somewhere relaxing and warm enough to sit by a pool or beach is about it.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I visited Costa Rica a year or so ago and stayed at the Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort. I stayed on the all inclusive rate using points. All you could eat and drink and the wine and liquor were fairly high quality. I even was able to get a lunch packed for me during day trips outside the resort. I was upgraded to a lovely suite. I did have a rental car and it was an interesting drive from San Jose. Not an easy drive but really no big problem for me although I have heard others saying never drive yourself. If you do rent a car, watch your speed. I did get stopped for speeding and paid the officer to not issue me a ticket. The Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort is a lovely spot to stay and my wife and I had a great trip to Costa Rica.

      jasper100,

are there day trips close by?  how are the restaurant options on the property?  this may seem like a ridiculous questions, but I was reading a AAA travel book and it stated only partial rooms had A/C, did you notice this?  thanks for the feedback.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Los Suenos resort in Costa Rica and my stay was amazing.  The Hotel is very modern with wonderful rooms.  I was upgraded to the central building 4th floor with the balcony.  I also redeemed the points for the All -Inclusive and it was def worth it.  The food is of very high quality yet pretty expensive.  Being on the All - Inclusive stay however allowed my wife and I to really indulge on food and drink.  I will throw this out there however, there is not alot to do once the sun goes down.  There is a bar to drink and eat at that the guests tend to congragate at but otherwise, nothing.  The town of Jaco is a 10 minute cab ride away, but we were warned about being thier to late at night...unless you speak spanish and then it should be fine.  Overall, i would rate my stay a 10 our 10 with the staff being incredibly helpful.
