After reporting that customer expectations are to receive a receipt via email quickly after a stay, a full four years later and still there is not a system to get receipts to customers quickly.
I rent cars from national rental car and as soon as I turn the car in I have a receipt in my email.
Really there is no excuse for this gap in service.
I just called Marriott's Renaissance Pere Marquette Hotel in New Orleans directly 30 hours after I checked out and requested a copy. They said that they would do it within 72 hours. I asked if I could get it now figuring 30 hours was sufficient time and they brushed me off saying "within 72 hours" again. The four night stay has yet to be posted to my Marriott Rewards account.
In this age 72 hours is a very long time, they should computerize this process (like most hotels and car rental places do).
The inconsistency in the time frame for getting stays to post is a little ridiculous, though, if I don't find a copy of the folio under my door the day of checkout, I'll always stop at the desk and ask for one before I leave. I like to comb them over to make sure that I didn't get charged for anything stupid.
My last stay posted the day after I checked out, but when I stayed at the essex house a couple months ago, it took over a week to post I think, and then when it posted it wouldn't allow me to download the bill for a couple days after that.
It is 2017, almost two years since this last post, and not only is getting a receipt still a pain in the arse, it is even harder. After waiting 72 hours, Marriott customer service has refused to give me the receipt. YOU ALSO HAVE TO GIVE THE EXACT AMOUNT CHARGED TO YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO THE CENT to get a copy of your receipt. I am just trying to find out how much the bill was, and because I used a company credit card I don't have ready access until I get a paper billing statement. This means I cannot get a hotel receipt until the end of the month.
Marriot's customer service person was a complete jerk. This is more than darn frustrating.
