I recieved a promotional recently that says that if you spend $3,000 on aMarriott reward VISA card your enetitled to a free night each time. When does this show up on your bill, or do you get a certificate. Plus what category hotel is this for?

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)

If you have the Visa Premier with the Marriott Rewards logo (the card is black), each time you charge $3000 on that card, you are credited with one elite qualifying night. This is not a free night stay, but an elite bonus night. As you know you need 10 elite nights in a year for Silver Elite, 50 for Gold and 75 for Platinum. Normally you would earn them only through staying a night in a hotel, but this is a little extra perk for spending money and using the card. It does not have to be on Marriott stays, but on any Visa purchase. So far this year I gotten them as soon as the charges are posted to the Marriott Rewards account--normally as soon as the billing cycle ends. Hope this answers your question.
