I noticed recently that when you stay at Marriott and eat breakfast, the dollar amount of your meal is not multiplied. Why is that? I know that in past yers the points (dollars) would be multiplied. This was a great way to increase your point total.
At Courtyard I know the points are awarded on room rate only. Check the earning points section of the Marriott Rewards website, as I think this applies to several other brands including Ritz Carlton. My impression is that only Marriott and JW Marriott hotels give points on other purchases. Things such as parking and tax do not give points anywhere.
