What keeps them honest? Hard to say. I would like to see a more transparent view of room availability on their website, and once you're at the hotel, on a monitor in the lobby, much like you see when you are booking airfare on a carrier's website (United Airlines, for example). You can see the exact seat locations that are available, before you buy your ticket. And, then you get to choose which of the available seats you sit in. A hotel could do exactly the same thing. They just choose not to.
