Why are the USA resorts now charging a fee when using your rewards to book a room? Is this a new policy? Defeats the purpose of loyalty to Marriott, another perk taken from platinum members. Marriott please look into this.
For a resort to charge a "resort fee" is nothing new. Many resorts of all brands do so. The difference really is whether you wish to avail yourself of the amenities offered by paying the resort fee. E.G., I have found - with respect to a number of Marriott resorts - that if I do not wish or cannot use the amenities represented by the resort fee, I just decline the amenities. In most cases - in my experience the fee has then also has been waived. If the amenities are the cure for which you have no disease, so tell the resort management.
