I just got info from the concierge and it looks like that is all included. It specifically said gratuities are included, and tax is not mentioned, however it is mentioned as additional cost for more than two guests in room. I spoke with customer service and they will be back in touch soon. I will post again when I get all the info.
I have since got an answer from the Marriott customer service department who called the resort direct. They said there are no taxes or gratuities in addition to the all inclusive reward. I told them they need to remove it from the Marriott site. I would still like anyone's input on the resort itself. I was told by a rep in the rewards department this morning that a "lot of people aren't traveling to Mexico but that he thinks Cancun is o.k."
I don't have an answer but moreso dovetailing onto your post. We are 2 weeks away from our "dream reward" vacation at CasaMagna in Cancun. I also inquired with Marriott services regarding the tax/gratuity disclaimer. Its a bit vague because they could not tell me what it would be charged against. If the room, food and drink are inclusive what would they charge taxes on? I'm a bit apprehensive with this "unknown". When I began saving my points they had 7 resorts to choose from. Its dwindled to 4. The one I selected happens to have this disclaimer yet no one can give clear definition around it. I agree it should be clarified or removed from the website. Having it listed there is like an open door. If you've traveled already please let me know how it all worked out. Thanks
Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I haven't even been on the site lately because both my wife's parents have been seriously ill. We have decided not to go to Cancun after all due to some concerns. I was told by Marriott customer service that not many were "going to Mexico now". Like you said, there are some "unknowns" and we have been to many other Marriott resorts using rewards and we never had that worry. I would still like to hear how your experience went though. Incidentally, we will be taking our son and daughter-in-law also and we have decided to take a caribbean cruise for four using points. We have also done this several times. Look forward to hearing from you.
