Hello all. I am trying to decide if I should join the new points program for my Marriott timeshare. I was wondering if most people are joining or are keeping it the way it currently is, trading through Interval. I would appreciate the help. Thanks.
I think it really comes down to how many weeks do you own. If you own one week then I would say don't join. If you own more then one week it might be worth it to join. I own five weeks and my yearly transaction fees are more then the $199 per year that I will be paying by joining. If you own a time share that doesn't have a lock off then it might be a advantage to join. You can trade the two bedroom in for a one bedroom and maybe get additional nights if only two people are going on vacation.
We have 4 weeks and ended up joining - you retain all the options you had before and there is increased flexibility with the new program. I don't like the value lost when you select the Destination Points, but you had that with the regular Marriott points program before. And there is a fee savings as mentioned in the other reply.
