I'm currently 1 night away from Platinum statut (after this weekend). I was wondering, if I earn Platinum by the end of this year, will I be able to retain this status? If so, does it expire? Will my points continue to add up toward platinum premier?
A GM at a full-service Marriott told me recently that he knows of at least one way to qualify for Premier Platinum is to accumulate 10 years of contiguous qualification for Platinum (e.g., 75 paid room nights in each of ten contiguous calendar years). There is also a Lifetime Platinum level (sometimes called, "emeritis Platinum"), which has an established criteria that is detailed by others in this thread, among which is 1,000 lifetime paid nights.
The Platinum status is renewed in the January/February timeframe. If you earn Platinum in March, you get it for the rest of the year and the following year. During that following year is when you would have to earn it for year 3.
this is an easy one. Once you make platinum this year, you will retain (or qualify)the status for next year, that is, you will be platinum next yar as well. All this loyalty programs are the same: you have to qualify on a preceding year to keep status on the current year.
