I booked a rewards stay for Sept. and just noticed that the points were already deducted from my account; is this something new that Marriott's is doing? Previous reward stays were not deducted until completion of the stay. Thanks
I have noticed that it depends of the property whether they wait until the stay to deduct the points or take them immediately... I have had to cancel reservations where the hotel has immediately deducted the points and they immediately refunded the points upon cancellation... Good luck...
Nothing new here ----- For every Rewards stay I have used within the past two yesr or so, points have been immediately deducted. However, any cancellations have always resulted in immediate points credit.
If you call the reservation line and tell them you don't want the points deducted for your up coming stay they will do so. The points will be deducted about a week or two before your stay. If you book on line then they will deduct the points right away. I need a one night stay in Kauai this coming year (extend trip by a day) and I knew I was going to get my one night free stay (Marriott credit card reward perk) so I booked through the reservation line, told them not to deduct points. I then called them back about two weeks later (when the free night certificate showed up on my account) and had them attach the certiicate to that stay.
