Newbie here...Just rec'd 56,000+ points and promoted to Silver level for hosting an event at our local Marriott. Exactly what do these points translate to? How many free nights can I get, and will they ever expire? Any tips for a Newbie? Thanks!
Congratulations are in order. If you registered and got to this insider page, you are familiar with Marriott's website. Go to the Marriott Rewards tab and look for the awards listing to answer your questions about reward availabilities. There are literally hundreds of rewards. However, look first for the hotel award chart. Every Marriott-branded hotel is classified into a "category" from 1 to 8. The higher the category, the more the amenities and the more points it costs to stay there. Tip --- Check out elite qualifications. You are already Silver. Check out the "nights per year" requirements for Gold and Platinum. These higher levels have many additional perks associated with them Happy trails!
I hope you enjoy your status. Like most loyalty programs, you have to continue to have activity so that the points do not expire. You can check the rewards pages on www.marriottrewards.com in order to see what you can redeem your points for. However, you can easily build up more points by staying at Marriott when you travel - I like their hotels. Quite honestly I don't stay in them because of the points, I stay in them because I am consistenly treated well and I believe they are an ethical company (and no, I don't work for them!).
