Perhaps you meant to post this in the forums section instead of Q & A? At either rate, I would call MR and see if they can sort that all out for you. Certainly you should get the credit for the paid night, as for the other, perhaps a call to the property manager would net some positive results? Best of luck either way.
That sucks and I hope you are able to get it resolved. However, that's the flip side of having a guaranteed reservation - you have to guarantee to pay for them...at least the first night. If you had more than one room booked, you don't get status for more than one room per night. The other chains don't do that either, seems to be a hotel industry standard. Having been on many a late flight, I appreciate that I can have a guaranteed room even though there is a downside when one forgets.
