No responses! I decided to go with the Renaissance Times Square. While the Marquis looks nice, I'm worried it will be too large and busy for a pre-surgery place to stay. I was also worried that the Wall St. location could be a difficult commute to the hospital if during commuting hours. Hope I made the right choice!
The Ren will be fine. Only downside is they only have 4 suites so upgrade to a suite very unlikely. Many suites at the Marriott Marquis plus corner rooms gives you a better opportunity for an upgrade. If an upgrade is unimportant to you the Ren Times Square is a very good alternative. Of course, both are tremendous locations.
Sounds like you've already made up your mind, but, in NYC, we've found that the Marquis in Times Square is a mixed bag. The elevators are fun (and unique), the location is extraordinary, and the one suite we stayed in was terrific - but it's BIG and busy.
