We are planning a 10 day stay in a Aruba next summer using points. Myself, spouse and children 16 and 14. Which property would you recommend? Leaning either towards renaissance or marriott hotel, but possibly a vacation club.
My wife and I spent 4 nights at the Marriott Stellaris and 4 nights at the Renaissance in 6/11. We LOVED both, but I believe with teenagers you may enjoy the Stellaris or Vacation Club more because they are on Palm Beach and offer great pools. Having said that, the Renaissance offered the private island and we enjoyed great downtown restaurants. Do NOT MISS the ABC FULL day safari. It's a wild and crazy day that offers a great tour of the island and some fun sights that you and your family should enjoy.
Last year I stayed at the Renaissance with my family. It was well worth it. The private beach was great and my kids had a great time. We were sad to leave as we made friends with the restaurant staff on the beach. Weather was not so good, we had alot of humidity and mosquitos. After hours was not so good as most places shut down at 6pm, only so much you can do with young ones.
My wife and I stayed at the Marriott and upgraded to the Concierge Level (top floor). That is the ONLY way to stay there. Breakfast, lunch and (basically) dinner are all free (you pay a tad to stay on the top floor). Non-stop drinks are also available. Our stay was incredible and we had a great time. As far as Aruba goes, you are there to relax and enjoy the sun. Pretty much sums up Aruba. By the way, they had an all-you-can-eat BBQ Lobster tail dinner one night and yes it WAS all you can eat. I actually had five tails and my wife one - and they were NOT small! Enjoy!
