I believe that rates are lower because it is off season right now. The JW is fabulous! The beach was narrow but useable. But who cares about that when you have such a wonderful pool with a great wait staff!!! Enjoy!
We received free shuttle service to and from Casa Magna as gold elite members-- as a Platinum member, I'm sure you'll be offered the same--a private car with a very friendly driver. Despite the FREE ride, we tipped generously-- Remember to request this with the hotel management directly BEFORE you travel According to my travel agent, beaches are still wide NORTH of the hotel zone-- you will love the service, staff, amenities, restaurants, views, and beauty of this hotel HAPPY TRAILS!!
I was at the Casa Magna last December....hotel was beautiful, service was wonderful, restaurants were fine....I traveled alone and felt very safe. Beach was great. Had a great 4 days, spa although small was excellent. Go and enjoy!
"the beach is narrow but useable"how can a narrow beach be useable? Is not the beach one of the drawing cards to a beach resort.I read in the paper and saw it confirmed on tripadvisor that after the latest hurricane some beaches disappered. One was the ritz and the other was the casa.I was going to cancun but decided not yo when I read the story.
I stayed at the JW two years ago and it was beautiful! I am going this time to CasaMagna next week. I think that both properties are very nice and you can't beat the rate at both of them. I am staying at the CasaMagna because I am using points to make it all inclusive. We really loved the adult pool at JW. It should be nice this time of year because kids will be back in school. The restaurants at both properties are very good, especially the Argentinian Steakhouse.
There is no free shuttle. I just purchased a round trip ticket for a private cab for $55. round trip online. I don't remember exactly who (sorry), it was Cancun something. If you do a search, you should find it.
Perhaps things have changed, but both Casa and JW provided FREE private car shuttle service; maybe a GOLD service? You do have to call the hotel for this service, directly, though, and arrange with transportation manager
Yes-- I agree that EVERYTHING about Casa is wonderful--we went 3 years in a row, but in 2008, the beach was so narrow our chairs were up against the wall at high tide, and the waves crashed over the wall all night long. I was knocked right out of my beach chair by a not so big wave!
