I'll answer my own questions....yes, I stayed there. The building is 104 years old, but the property is in top shape (OK, maybe the rooms and suites [at least Suite 915 is a bit small], but no one should complain about this place. Service in the Executive Lounge was excellent.
I've posted on this hotel elsewhere (and it's frustrating that it's so hard to find these), but
ssindc....I do have difficulties navigating here in this blog....sorry I missed your original postings regarding the Plaza Hotel - Marriott Buenos Aires.
We were just a bit early in spring, but the blossoms were starting to open and we found the the neighborhood very comfortable . We even slipped around the corner one evening to catch a couple of quarters of Monday Night Football at Filo Pizzaria.....actually, the pizza was pretty good. The Executive Lounge was not a problem for us....not crowded in the mornings....we skipped "Happy Hour.' You're correct about the lobby....gotta walk up or walk down to catch the lift....but you gotta walk! Because the weather was so nice....we would just do a 'hit & run' in the lounge and carry a tray back to our suite and snack on the terrace.....gotta love Platinum status when they upgrade you to a suite.
I stayed at the Marriott Plaza Buenos Aires last July and I found it to be quite nice. Although the building is over 100 years old, it's still in pretty good shape, and the suite they gave us was very unique and comfortable. I can't remember the number, but It had a large oval sitting room (see picture). Additionally, the spread in the lounge was decent and the service was very good. The only downside I found to this place was that the two restaurants the concierge suggested were just not that good, we had better meals elsewhere with no advice.
