Savannah, GA: I checked Trip Adviser. So many negative comments about the Marriott Hotels: run down, dirty, poor service even at the Mansion on Forsyth Park. Many comments dwell on the young staff from the arts college. Are these reviewers too picky? Any advice on which is the best hotel for a one night, quiet stay?
I'm not sure of your particular needs, but as the poster above stated, the SHS is very nice. It's not luxurious, so I wouldn't do a special anniversary trip there, but it's well located, clean and run perfectly. If it's more about being in Savannah than having a memorable hotel, given the usual cost or points savings, I'd recommend the SHS.
We stayed there about two years back with a river view and balcony!
The hotel is located a short walk to numerous restaurants and shopping on River Street. I remember the hotel having a very helpful and friendly staff, being some what old and needing remodeled, but it was clean and comfortable.
Highly recommend an appetizer or after dinner drink at Vic's and enjoy the beautiful music from this young lady's rich voice.
And this joint The Crab Shack had some incredible seafood on Tybee Island.
