My husband and I are taking our 2 daughters (12 and 14) to Washington DC in March and would like to know which hotel(s) are closest to many of the sites? (Congress, the monuments, the Smithsonian.) we would like to walk as much as possible. Thanks so much!
I have to agree with the previous poster. The JW is a wonderful property, conveniently located to the White House Ellipse and is a great base for those who want to walk the city. I've stayed there on business and pleasure many times and have not been disappointed. One caution, parking, as you might expect, is at a premium, so if you're driving to town, you will pay a bit for the JW valet service. If you're arriving by plane or train, taking a cab to the JW is easy and convenient. It is a bit more expensive than other hotels but for my money, worth the cost.
The JW is very convenient and the closest but the Marriott Metro is only a couple blocks away. An easy walk. The Mayflower might be under some construction so I would call and ck before booking and it's not really the closes. Enjoy your trip, Dc is a great town!!
