I plan to take a trip to the Palm Springs/Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage/Indian Wells area in late October or early November with my wife. No special occasion...just looking primarily to relax and take in a few of the more interesting sites.
If the question is where to stay, there are a number of good Marriott choices. The Coachella Valley (Palm Springs, etc) is part of my territory for my company, so I travel there on business frequently. I also own two weeks at Marriott's Desert Springs Villas Phase One timeshares in Palm Desert. On the hotel side, my top three choices for vacationing in the area are--- Palm Springs Renaissance - great location and recently undergone a fabulous renovation. Also a short walk to downtown Palm Springs (Palm Canyon Drive). Renaissance Esmeralda - in Indian Wells - Great family and golf resort JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort - in Palm Desert - fabulous resort with everything imagineable on site --- golf, spa, huge tenis center with some 22 hard courts and two grass courts, and (at last count) eleven swimming pools, etc, etc.
