We are headed to Fairway Villas in NJ in a few days. We are familiar with the big attractions - Atlantic City, Wildwood & Cape May, but it has been several years since we have been there. Any more "local" suggestions?
If you have the time to explore and the weather cooperates, consider a 3-state excursion. Start out from Absecom/Fairway Villas very early, drive to Cape May and board the ferry - car and all to Lewes, Delaware at 7:30 am. (Advance Reservations: Online http://www.capemaylewesferry.com/Schedules-Fares) From Lewes, take US1 and enjoy breakfast in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Then, drive south on US1 for 40 minutes to Ocean City, MD. Take a peek at Marriott's new Courtyard Ocean City at 15th Street (I think you can park there for a small fee). Stroll the boardwalk, enjoy the rides, take the boogey boards, sand chairs and umbrella for a simply marvelous afternoon on the Maryland seashore. Have funnel cake, the best French Fries with malt vinegar along with blue crabs on the boardwalk. Take the tram on the boardwalk back to the Courtyard. Make an early dinner reservation at the Captain's Table on the 3rd floor of the Courtyard. Drive back up to Lewes, DE hop on the last ferry to Cape May departs 7:45 pm sharp. Bring sweatshirts or windbreakers and your camera on the ferry! Pets welcome too!
