My wife and I are on a driving vacation from La Jolla, CA to Seattle, WA via San Francisco and Portland, OR. What is a good two week itinerary for this trip? Where to stay on the route indicated and what to do in the places stated.
There are two very nice properties that I have stayed at that are very special. The Marriott in downtown Portland, and the Marriott on the water in Seattle. The Seattle location is a short walk to Pike Street Market, and is a special place. Good luck!
Hey there, I used to live in PB, lived in the SF Bay area and travel to Seattle, so I know the route. I recommend stopping in Monterrey, it's very nice there, great place to walk around, not far from Carmel and Santa Cruz, all nice places to visit. If you come up the coast, you can visit Hearst castle, quite a site. From there, anywhere in SF is good. Nice choices downtown, plenty of places to walk to. Heading out of SF, I would spend a night or two in Sonoma/Napa valley. I know there are a few Marriott properties in wine country, definitely beautiful there. While in wine country, do the wine train! Great fun there, train ride, with dinner passing many vineyards, very pretty and romantic. I hope those help. Have a nice trip!
Make sure you stop at the Santa Ynez Valley Marriott in Buellton, CA. Great hotel experience, with good food. I've been here since January 1st on business. Over 100 vineyars and wineries around with horse ranches to visit and a casino 10 minutes away. Check out the movie Sideways... It's a comedy that was filmed in this area. Book room 432, 434, 436 (this one's the best) , or 442. I'm in 444 which overlooks horses grazing at the polo ranch across the street. Satbuyser
