We would like to stay at the Maui Ocean Center in 2012, but it appears they have transferred all available rooms to "some" booking agency. Does anyone have an idea who it might be? We are not owners so we are not getting much help from Marriott. The only thing they will tell us is that the entire property is "booked" for ALL of January, February, March and April. We can book Christmas week in 2011, but can book NOTHING any time in 2012. Doesn't make sense that there is nothing at all available. Anyone with any insight?
I'm sure you mean Maui Ocean Club Vacation Club resort.
Keep in mind that from December (holiday time) through April (spring break time) is "high season" for Hawaii. Vacation Club owners are known to use their "home resort" 95-98% of the time each year. Therefore, there is next to no availability during that time.
Are you trying to book via $$$ or Marriott Rewards Points? Using MR points for villas are very limited (read next to impossible)
If you mean the Maui Ocean Club, I'm seeing the same thing. There are loads of 2-bedroom villas, 1-bedroom villas, and guestrooms available as point rewards all through the end of the year. But as soon as I search into 2012, there is nothing available at all. Something is definitely up...
Maui Ocean Club is a timeshare-only resort, not a combination hotel/timeshare (such as the Kauai Marriott).
At the beginning of any period of time, a timeshare resort (assuming that most all time intervals there have been sold) is "full" until an owner trades out of that resort, creating a vacant week for which others may reserve.
Note that this is the exact opposite of a hotel, which is vacant and available until the first reservations come in.
This means that reserving a room at a timeshare resort at which you are not an owner may be difficult, and in fact will be impossible until existing owners trade out of that resort.
