The Atlanta Marriott Marquis is a very large hotel with 1663 “freshly renovated” guestrooms. Our 1-night stay was very nice. We had a reasonable rate ($159) which included tickets to the Georgia Aquarium and the new show Dolphin Tales. The aquarium is an easy walk from the walk from the hotel, as is the New World of Coca-Cola; however, the return walk is uphill.
We were able to check in early (which was great so that we could get our aquarium tickets) and recognized as platinum members. We were given a scratch-off card which is a summer promotion and won 1000 reward points.
Our room was on the 44th floor and we could see all the way to the airport. The state capitol and Turner Field were also visible. The room was very clean. We had requested foam pillows and had a message when we returned from the aquarium to call and they would deliver them.
The concierge lounge was beautiful. There were numerous seating areas, some with a flat screen TV. Snacks, fruit, and cold drinks/water were available all day. Two attendants did a great job keeping everything replenished because the lounge was busy.
Our flight home was delayed and we were granted a late check-out, then we were able to add another hour when the flight was delayed again.
There is an indoor connection to MARTA through the Peachtree Center so make sure and ask which exit you need to take. We walked about 5 blocks (outside) with a lot of luggage because we didn't know exactly how to get to the hotel from MARTA. We ate at the food court at the Peachtree Center before leaving for the airport and made sure we knew how to get to MARTA. It takes 17 minutes to get to the airport and only costs $2.00.
