My wife and I just spent 8 days at the JW Marriott in Cannes. Firstly this property was only recently taken under the JW Marriott brand umbrella, having previously been an independent and originally built by Hilton. The rooms are very modern and while not massive in size are perfectly OK and typically European. The roof top pool area is classy and has wonderful views across the Cannes bay. Ask for a room on the 5th floor and you will be on the same floor as the pool area. It's a relaxing area to sunbath and enjoy some peace & quiet. The new Marriott management team are working hard to bring some of the "service" standards up to JW level having inherited some summer staff from the previous owners. We had a disappointing evening on the first night of our stay where there was very poor service in the restaurant. We complained and have to say the management team are very aware of the challenges they face. On the other hand the breakfast team were fantastic -- all a matter of who is in charge and their expectations.
The property is perfectly located to enjoy Cannes to the full and a short walk to the historic old town. Handy to all the prestigious fashion shops from around the world and lots of restaurants nearby.
So bottomline - perhaps rebranded JW Marriott a little too quickly but that aside still a great stay and we are sure that their plans for the future now that the high/summer season is over will make this a great property. We certainly plan to return.
