Just returned from a 6-day stay at the Ritz at Grande Lakes. Although it was our alternate pick (as JW was booked solid) -- it turned out to be an exceptional hotel. We checked in after midnight and the front desk staff were extremely welcoming and accomodating (exploring all options in order to upgrade us to a better room/view even though hotel was full). After check in was complete, they then walked with us to the elevators and wished us a good stay. What a personal touch! By the 2nd morning, we were greeted by name by the breakfast staff. Impressive! The breakfasts were consistently excellent, although buffet is pricey if you're not on a package. The Ritz pool deck has lots of lounges + 3 or 4 cabanas for rent ... but we prefer & used the J.W. pool/lazy river instead. (unless it's during peak seasons - you can access the JW pool area without a wrist band). If you prefer to walk/jog - no need to access the gym. The grounds have miles of paved walkways lining the adjoining properties. For avid golfers, the course is in great shape and having a personal caddy to help navigate your play is quite an experience. Dress code was more "country club" than vacation casual - just something to keep in mind. Room was large with loads of ammenities (robes, slippers, inroom safe, valet stand & a standing offer for a daily shoe shine). Beds were heavenly, rooms were tastefully decorated and large balconies overlooking pool. We would give the hotel high ratings across the board. Thanks Marriott for adding Ritz to our hotel selection!
