Has anyone else noticed that the number of offerings on the room service menus of full service Marriotts and Renaissance properties seems to be shrinking? It is getting to the point where the dinner offerings consist of no more than 4-5 entrees and 3-4 sandwiches. And its the same tired set at many properties. One steak dish, one chicken dish, a cheeseburger, club sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich and that's about it.
When I travel, is it too much to expect some local flavor to the menu?
Of all places I've stayed recently, the Birmingham (Alabama) Marriott gets it right. They had choices that reflect the local styles, including a terrific Shrimp and Grits.
It has been disappointingly small selections in "bigger" locations like Dallas, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Los Angeles.
