Cosmopolitan VS ARIA in LAS VEGAS

I am a Platinum member and have reservations at both hotels for Dec. 28-30. I have one reservation at the ARIA and the other at Cosmopolitan. ARIA is slightly cheaper and offer a $100 resort credit. If money was no object I would stay at Cosmopolitan no question but it is hard for me to justify the extra $100 for similar hotels. Platinum line was not able to offer a room upgrade or any kind of deal to narrow the choice. Heck free access to the spa would have been enough but they are not cutting any kind of slack. Help me justify why I should stay at the Cosmopolitan.  If I keep my reservation I will be at exactly 500 nights at Marriott properties since I joined the Marriott Rewards program.

I had brunch at the Aria this past Sunday, Dec 19th and had a private tour of the Cosmopolitan that afternoon.   The Aria sits in the back of the City Center complex and it is a bit quiet.    The Cosmopolitan is on the strip - between Belliago and City Center.  There is a connecting bridge over the roadway connecting the two shopping centers associated with each hotel.

As a Platinum at the Cosmopolitan you should get an arrival gift and breakfast for 2 at the buffet, and possibly a room upgrade.   No lounge and everything else is extra like the spa.  But the Cosmopolitan is a new, exciting hotel, with busy casino.

If you want to save why not just stay over at the Renaissance.  You can get a car and still save a lot.   They have a Concierge Lounge open Sun night - Fri am.  Quiet, off strip and gives you MR credits.

It really comes down to how much you want to spend and where you want to be.

    Hi

I just spent 2 days at Cosmpolitan hotel in LV using Marriott points (writing from the room). I got room upgrade while chacking in. It is very modern hotel, rooms are very nice, spacy, confortable and bathroom is amaizing. Finishings are top quality and views from the hotel are fantastic overlooking Balagio fountain and the rest of the strip. At the check in I was also told that platinum members have free breakfast at the buffett on 2nd floor which is very helpful. Strongly recommend you stay at the Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas, its the best!

Great news for Platinum Elite - thanks for letting us know.  Does the Cosmopolitan offer guests a choice for non-smoking rooms or are all of them non-smoking?

I thought I was doing well when they gave me a room upgrade last weekend but no gift and no breakfast buffet offered.  They also didn't email my bill and had to call them to get it.  It is a great hotel and I know it will do well.  I just hope they get a little more consistency.

I toured Cosmopolitan recently, just walking around by myself, and it seems like a very nice property.  Right now, though, there are all the people, like me, who just want to get a look at the place.  If I were staying there, that would annoy me: I don't like to have to elbow my way into breakfast!  I haven't stayed there, but I have stayed in one of the apex suites (at the corner of the hotel) in Aria, and it was super.  Aria, as you know, is much bigger, but to me, it didn't have the mega-hotel feel; it is so well designed and so well decorated (deep colors and dark woods) that it really has a more intimate feel that belies its size.  I liked Aria a lot, and there is a huge choice of restaurants there too.  I guess if I were going right now, I'd choose Aria because of some of the reasons you list in your posting (including price), but if I were going two months from now, I'd choose the Cosmopolitan.  Whichever you choose, you'll have easy access to the other, and to Crystals (which is in between the two hotels).  Be sure to let us know what you decide and how it turned out.  Have fun and win big!
