Why are Marriott "Stays" so special to many of us?
Well here is a great example! After another great stay at London's County Hall I booked a new trip for Valentine's Day. Asking Romona, Guest Relations Manager, about nice places to dine I got this email from Abundio, the Concierge. This is an example of why people like me enjoy Marriott so much!
Good morning Mr. Jerry Morgan,

Reservations HAVE been made at all of Abundio's suggestions!
Jerry, what a nice thing for the Marriott associate to do for you. I recall fondly dinners at Simpson's and those gleaming domes of polished silver being pushed on elegant trolleys with elegantly attired staff, in which the roasts and chops reside. You do need to dress up that's for sure, but it is a wonderful experience not to missed. You can even reserve a table online for Simpsons in the Strand these days! And it is advisable to do it very early.
The Savoy Hotel is also a marvelous place to visit now that it's revamped and reopened. Ah yes, London, a great place to be anytime. Thanks for reminding me.
Stepping and Professor,
Thanks for the comments!
I need your advice, To have dinner at Le Gavroche on Valentines Day, they want $550 for two paid now! After reading so many bad reviews of the place, maybe I would be better just having room service! (Not really)
But, there has to be a safe bet in London for less money on Valentines Day!
Any thoughts, ANYBODY?
Jerry, for some reason my reviewer status in the US does not automatically let me see Zagat's reviews over in London! But Yelp is a good second and here is their take on London places to dine. Good luck and have a great time!
For reassurance, let Abundio know about the concerns. Depending upon the source, the reviews may not be accurate or reliable. Fake reviews disparaging hotels and restaurants in the UK, Australia and America have spiraled out of control as unscrupulous guests and diners attempt to get compensated by faking a less than satisfactory experience. See TripAdvisor could face legal action over reviews
Regards payment months in advance, it's not that unusual. In New York for example, many reputable restaurants book very quickly and request a credit card for special occasions like Valentine's Day and New Years Eve. Relationships are fragile. Stuff happens. They have to do this to minimize no-shows. In the spirit of 'little things', perhaps Abundio can assist and ask about their cancellation and refund policies?
Here's a new development: Fake hotel reviewers on TripAdvisor to be punished
On point with 'Little Things', Insiders is exactly that, IMO. Via Insiders Marriott hosts a safe haven that is 'gated' where Elite are welcome to exchange views about travel with passion and candor.
While an unscrupulous member might try to post a fake negative review, their identity is not easily faked and traceable to a Marriott Rewards account.
Thanks, Marriott for 'Little Things'
