Renaissance Las Vegas

We just came back from the Renaissance Las Vegas.  Nice property, ok front desk staff, we were put on club level, but offered no comp for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday morning and were told they would put us on a waiting list for a suite upgrade that never materialized.  The Front Bellmen, bartenders,  cleaning staff and club level lounge attendants were much friendlier and more helpful than anyone at the front desk.  Nice rooms, nice pool area, but it only gets about 1 hour of sun a day, it is surrounded by the tall building.  Pool area is the designated smoking area, with lots of ashtrays, however, it didn't seem tobe a problem. Very easy access to the monorail.  The food at Envy was delicious.  We got a great deal thru Travelzoo at $89 / night plus a $50 food credit.

    We stayed there in May, had a suite upograde, breakfast during the closed hours, and other perks.  Must be the time of year or the whims of the hotel?

    I agree that the pool is very strange in that it almost is never sunny there, and that the smoking could be a problem.

    We were paying a full rate but that should not impact the service I would think.

    Just tried this property for the first time, and I liked it.

    • I tried it because they were promoting it as the only strip accessible hotel that has NO CASINO and NO SMOKING.  I appreciated both!
    • Comfortable room, great work surface, but boring views (of the convention center parking lot), which was painful in comparison to the Cosmopolitan, which offers the best balconies in Vegas....
    • No concierge lounge (I think), but my package got me dining credit at the restaurant - which was quite good, PLUS credit in the marketplace to cover breakfast.  So I ate lunch and breakfast at no charge, so I didn't mind the absence of the lounge....
    • Access to the Vegas monorail was TERRIFIC - I used it - it's a bargain, it's easy, and was incredibly convenient (for where I had to go - both for a conference, and later for a show)....
    • Nice, helpful staff - I particularly appreciated the guy staffing the concierge desk;
    • Very reasonable price; extraordinarily reasonable with food included (see above)....
    • There are many opinions on this property elsewhere on this web site, and they cross the spectrum....

    Did you get credit for an Elite night? I am still incredulous about this.
