Hello all. I'm about to schedule my first use of a 7-day certificate from a travel package. Can anyone tell me if I will be entitled to my gold benfits (concierge loung access, upgrade, etc) using the certificate, or will I have a "standard room" and no bennies??? It does make a difference on where to use it. Thanks in advance
My experience is it that it really varies!
I have gone to some fantastic hotels and they upgrade you and can't do enough for you. Likewise, I have gone to some very average locations and they do not seem to know what Platinum means. A lot will depend on where you are going and how crowded they are.
Others have suggested re-confirming prior to showing up and asking what kind of room you are getting.
Do not forget to check with previous Insider comments on your desired location. It may help you a lot.

Is this travel package a Marriott certificate or from a 3rd party? Who books the hotel reservation and is your Marriott Rewards # linked to the reservation? As Jerry suggests, consider calling the Elite line and asking them to call the hotel about the benefits on your behalf.
"No. It's a Marriott travel package, "bought" with reward points."
Depends on the property and your expectations.
For example, one of my favorite hotels is Marriott's Wentworth by the Sea in Newcastle, New Hampshire. This hotel was elevated to a Category 7 and love their Elite guests. I've stayed there on points combined with paid, given high praise, made referrals, yet they do not honor the Platinum Premier benefit of 20% discount on food and beverage - which is a bummer.
Honoring benefits is based upon hotel participation. In the most positive sense, treatment of Elites varies and can be inconsistent. To avoid embarassment and confrontation while travelling, calling Gold Elite to call the hotel on your behalf and in advance is probably your best bet.
