We stayed at the JW and it was fantastic, but a drive into Cairo. We hired a tour guide off of trip advisor, and she was good...she also provided our transportation in an air conditioned van. We were gold at the time, and the JW upgraded us to a suite. Also, the concierge level is outstanding...made to order breakfast along with huge buffet, appetizer buffet at night with wine and beer free. And the waterpark and pool areas are amazing...water slide, enormous wave pool, big quiet pool, etc, etc. My husband golfed too, and really enjoyed the course. The only drawback is that it isn't in the city, but we were looking for a few days of incredible history, and the rest of our time i resting and relaxing at the resort. We went by the Marriott downtown, and it looked gorgeous. I am sure you will have an unforgettable experience no matter where you stay. Enjoy!
Thank you so much for the reply! So did it cost a lot for a tour guide?? I would imagine so. I was told there was public transportation like a metro, which I find unbelievable (I will look it up) I was told the marriott kyhhamm was near lots of sites and the other marriott was further out? AM I getting the hotels mixed up?
Our guide was about 100 Euros, I believe. You are right about the Marriotts. You will be staying in Cairo, and we stayed at the JW further out. You will have a great time. We took a falucca(I am sure that is not how it is spelled) on the Nile that the tour guide set up. The kids loved it.We also went to the big market and had lunch after we had been at the Pyramids, which we rode camels around...a very awesome, surreal experience!!!
Have a great time. I am sure if the JW we stayed at was great, yours will be too. It seems that most Marriotts outside of the US treat their reward members like royalty. They truly value one's loyalty, which is so nice!
