It is very rarely that I am FLOORED by a hotel room, but this one wins the prize for the best hotel room I have ever stayed in!
I am working in Chennai, India currently staying in Le Royal Meridien - mainly because of its convenient location, but also because they treat me extremely well. After seeing a post from another Insider regarding the Marriott Courtyard in Chennai, I decided to give it a try this past weekend. When I checked in, I was warmly welcomed as a platinum premier guest and told my room was not ready yet (it was 4pm) so I was escorted to the executive lounge (YES - Executive lounge in a CY - and it is open on weekends!!)
In about 30 minutes they came to bring me the key for my room - 801. When I opened the door, I could not believe my eyes! The first thing I noticed was a large living area with a 1/2 bath off the entryway. In the large living area was a sofa, table and 2 other seats, but the BEST feature in this whole room was the black leather massage chair. My back and neck had been killing me all week so of course i had to try out the chair. Out of my 2 days in that room, I must have been in that chair at least 50% of my waking hours. It had 5 different massage settings for different areas of the body, and also had a leg massage function which was quite nice.
My room rate actually included credit for some spa services - and I did partake of a massage by a real person. Sorry, it wasnt as good as this chair.
Other great features of this room included a large desk, dining table with 4 chairs, king bed, and for the die-hard TV watcher - 3 flat screen TV's including one in the master bath positioned opposite the toilet.
When I came back the Le Royal Meridien for the rest of the week, all I could talk about was that chair and asked when I could get one in my room here. That is not likely to happen, however they are having dicussions about getting a chair or two in their Royal Club lounge. That chair (along with the great service and the concierge lounge) has me longing to go back to the CY Chennai.
