We will be arriving in San Juan December 9, 2010 and staying at the San Juan Marriott Resort and Casino prior to our sailing on the Celebrity Summit Dec 11th.
What are some interesting sights we can visit? We are not beach people.
Do you recommend any particular tour company or is this a place you can explore on your own?
well the first thing you will want to do is catch the bus down to the Old San Juan area. This area is amazing with places to eat, things to see and just rich with lots of cultural stuff. Check out the fort for sure, walk along the streets and you can look for some great places for lunch/dinner. You can easily find a day's worth of things to do there. There's also tours of the Bacardi factory if you are into that as well. Take the bus if you can its 10x cheaper than a cab. There is a Hard Rock Cafe there, so you can count on some "traditional American food" if you are not into the more latin/island inspired local fare. Plenty of great places to eat, stop by the Parrot Club or the Dragonfly for some great food or even wander down to the Brickhouse bar (just down the road from these two places) and enjoy some of the hottest wings in the Caribbean :) They also have all the US sports playing on their tvs, the owner is a relocated northeastern guy who is a riot to hang out with if you get the chance.
Have a great time, San Juan is a fantastic city :)
