    I think the article is spot on.  Points and miles have no intrinsic value anyway, so there is always some risk you will wake up one day and they will be worthless.  Unlikely, but still...

     

    So, depending on travel program "partners" gives you even less control, so for me I am loyal primarily to one airline (AA) and one hotel (MR) and for me the better value is to save marriott points.  I don't even know if I could have used AA miles to convert to MR points.  Doesn't matter now i guess... 

    (For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)
