I just wanted to share my experience at the Marriott Beijing City Wall Hotel. The location is very convenient with a subway station on two lines just a couple of blocks away. The Silk Market is just one stop away! More important, though, is how fantastic the property is. The hotel has the benefits of a large hotel coupled with the benefits of a small hotel. Even though the property has 1300 rooms, one would never realize there are so many rooms. There are four sets of elevators in the four corners of the hotel so there is never a wait for an elevator nor a crowd near the elevators; in this respect, you get the feeling that the hotel is small. Nevertheless, the hotel offers amenities of a large hotel such as many excellent restaurants. Best of all, the indoor swimming pool is olympic size and magnificent. There are gorgeous chaises and lounging couches in a beautiful setting around the pool. The locker room is incredibly equipped with a whirlpool, sauna, and steam room! The executive lounge is one of the best around with many computers, headphones for Skype, and best of all, some of the best food in Asia from 5:30-7:30 pm. The appetizers are superb and a chef prepares one special dish per night in addition to the phenomenal hors d'oeuvres. The only problem with the lounge is that you may not make it out to dinner in Beijing after sampling the outrageously delicious hors d'oeuvres. This lounge is on a par with the Marriott Resort and Spa in Bangkok. The lounge staff is top notch. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are great. The new GM at this Beijing hotel has done a top notch job of running this hotel in a seamless manner. This is the place to stay in Beijing!
