NOT SO GREAT NEWS FOR ELITES

Marriott Individual Incentives - Freedom to take chances and explore

Insider, Blava007 writes, "We should lobby the Marriott Rewards management team to return the European Hopper." Are you aware you can build your own? Hop over to Marriott Individual Incentives!

It turns out that the above information is incorrect.  No hooray for hoppers.  Marriott discontinued them last year. According to Marriott Rewards, you can build your own hopper by redeeming nights at individual hotels.

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)

    Hi TJCNewYork,

Thanks for trying but the link is for corporate incentive programs.  The European-hopper that we are referring to allowed you to redeem 150K points for 3 certificates - 1 for 3 nights and 2 for 2 nights stays at any European property.

    Thanks again!

    NewHiltonMember,

You are correct. Marriott discontinued 'hoppers' with the 2009 program changes.  After several cordial but nonetheless frustrating conversations with Platinum Premier and Marriott Rewards, Marriott's Individual Incentives Program is NOT a 'hopper' solution.

That Hopper award was truly great. I used it for Berlin, Vienna and Paris and appreciated every minute of it.

    Ah the good 'ol days.

It's seems 'Hopper' bears a trademark.

Actually, it's "Park Hopper" that bears the trademark, not just Hopper...  They trademarked it because other parks (Universal ;) ) tried to create the same thing, and Disney got there first. :)

I would love to see these come back.. I was hoping to do one in Europe this summer as a quick vacation.
