The Renaissance Vendôme is my choice for a Paris hotel. It's small, intimate, originally-conceived; it's conveniently located in the 1st arrondissement. The staff is superbly trained by Mme Legrand, the hotel director. I was working on a book there, and sat every morning outside the restaurant writing. No one ever disturbed me. As soon as I'd look up, one of the staff would step up and ask if he could help. The food at Pinxo, the attached restaurant is world-class, and ranks well even in Paris. I also like the Champs-Elyssé and the Rive-Gauche, and have had good experiences at all three hotels. But the Renaissance Vendôme is my favorite hotel in the world.
TOTALLY and COMPLETELY agree... great hotel and a darn fine location. So close to all the major attractions, yet in a quiet part of the city. So romantic too... my wife and I spent 4 days there and vow to spend more time there in the future. Simply a great place to stay.
Of the 3 pictures I included... the last one was the view from our room.
I agree about your choices in Paris - this hotel is our favorite as well. Unfortunately, when I went to book 3 rooms with points for this coming June, they wanted an additional 70 euros per room per night. It's disappointing to be charged an extra $600 above and beyond the 210,000 points just to stay the weekend.
I don't have an issue with it being ranked as a category 8 - it is well deserved and the restaurant is excellent for brunch and dinner alike. The hotel staff is attentive and the GM comes out and greets each Platinum guest personally - a nice touch.
