Well, TIPPLE (are you happy brightlybob) was a huge success. We can attribute that to all the great Insiders who showed up.
TIPPLE was the largest ever organized meeting of Insiders. This post, may be the first ever collaborative post (though we don't know if razorbackfan and bikinchris have done something similar before).
So here we sit in the Springhill Suites in Corpus Christi (saving $$$ by sharing a two queen-bed room)
We both want to thank everyone who made TIPPLE the wonderful event that is was. We had about 25 folks in attendance. People like jerrycoin, erc, pluto77, SeaTexan, nationwide, fistuk, IAHFLYR, Thom Kozik, and NathalieF. So many more we can't name everyone, but all y'all know who you are.
Folks arrived at different times on Friday and Saturday. Friday night we mostly gathered in the bar, but the JW agreed to open honor bar in the CL for a couple of hours (5-7pm). Those of us already there took great advantage of this perk (and the free Brit snacks ). After we closed down the lounge, we headed back to the bar or to nearby watering holes to continue the fun. About 10pm, Jsucool76 showed up and helped the tech troglodytes sign up for Twitter and earn some additional #MRpoints. A few brave souls (led by painedplatinum) closed down the neighborhood bar Friday night.
Most everyone enjoyed breakfast Saturday morning (except bejacob who went off to collected counties west and south of Houston). We all convened at 3pm in the Griffin Lounge to hear a preview of what is to come with Insiders and related projects from Thom, Jasmine, and Nathalie. Let's just say it sounds pretty cool.
That evening, Marriott hosted an amazing reception for us - food, drink, and great conversation. It was truly the highlight of the weekend. We can't thank Nathalie enough for putting all of this together. Did we mention that we had unlimited, free booze IAHFLYR? We did raise a glass to all those who wanted to be there but were unable to attend for whatever reason. If/when we ever do this again, we hope you can join us.
Late night munchies encouraged about half a dozen of us, led again by the intrepid painedplatinum, to hop the metro for a midnight taco run to Tacos-a-gogo. Look for the picture for the pictures in Iahflyer's major fail. Opinion differ on that topic, but the tacos were darn good.

Most everyone headed home Sunday after breakfast. We (bejacob and brightlybob) headed south to Corpus Christi collecting counties along the way.
We, the members of the organizing unorganised committee, now formally relinquish our duties. We hope everyone (whether you attended or not) enjoyed the last nine months of planning threads and discussions. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. We think we speak for all of us who experienced TIPPLE when we say, "what an amazing weekend it was!"
Last thought: what happened at TIPPLE stays at TIPPLE.
What a great time! Enjoyed meeting and chatting with EVERYONE at the 'TIPPLE' gathering and 'count me in' for the next one whenever and wherever that may be! It was so great to put a real face to the computer names we all use! Glad to find we were all actually 'humans' and not computer robots !
Really though, thanks to all who were there for making this such an enjoyable event!
I love this photo!!! Yay midnight taco run!!!
painedplatinum, thank you so much for the tickets!
It wasn't so much a major fail on IahFlyer as it was a major miss out... how about that? Of course posting at 2:30am, well that is never a good idea!
Amazing weekend all around. We have such a unique and beautiful group! Thank you bejacob and of course brightlybob for seeding this event and with the help of IAHFLYR , pulling me into this wonderful community. <3 <3 <3
Great write up, bejacob!! We have all you wonderful Insiders to thank for making this such a successful event! It is so wonderful to see all of your smiling faces together in one place. So glad you all enjoyed yourselves!!
Yeah yeah yeah, I admit that a bad glass and a bit of vino did me in and trust me I did not need to be on any train Saturday night!!! We did make to to Tacos a Go Go Sunday for a late breakfast and it was packed. Great call on the joint ssindc and painedplatinum sorry for bailing on you buddy!!
A splendid weekend for sure and we loved meeting each of you, yes even you Jsucool76!!
Thanks to all who came to town and to NathalieF and team for not being afraid to join us. Still not sure how to find Jasmine on here, but that to will occur one day. We sure did have fun.
painedplatinum I just ate my plate of goo leftovers for lunch... They really should rename it that! ;D
The Saturday evening portion of the TIPPLE that I was able to attend was an enjoyable and first rate event. A big thank you to brightlybob and bejacob along with their assistants iahflyer and nationwide for their efforts in putting together the meet up. Of course, Marriott deserves mention for providing an excellent venue, food and spirits. The highlight of the evening was being able to meet the Marriott Insiders in attendance and match a "real" person with an online identity. My only regret is that I was not able to arrive earlier in the day. I will second the motion that if a TIPPLE II becomes a reality, I will endeavor to attend.
jerrycoin's Bananas Foster Ball which he said was delicious. We got a Nutella Tart to go using the $10 Food and Beverage Certificate which was delivered to us. It was delicious and eaten before we thought to take a picture of it.
As you know, everything to dine on at The JW Downtown Houston was special! The Salmon, Beef, and of course desserts were exceptional!
The only thing better was The MRI Companions!
To all my MRI colleagues who met up at TIPPLE - - my most humble apologies that I could not attend. I had plans to attend but the day I was going to book my airfare, my client informed me that I was experiencing my last day on the assignment. In other words, I was GONE and without any notice or inkling that this was coming.
Needless to say, with the immediate "unemployment" situation, I could not justify the travel expense as in my industry, I never know how long I will "be on the bench" before I secure my next contract.
We all missed you!
See you next time. Now, good luck getting "Off the bench", and back in action!
Yes it would have been great to have added pingreeman to the list of attendees as well as the others who were unable to attend.
Yeah, get "off the bench" soon and back on the field.
