Disappointing stay. Common areas well kept and pool was a positive. Good location. Upgraded to Presidential suite as a platinum but the room was tired and way overdue for an overhaul. The furniture was scratched and worn with a few mysterious stains for poor measure. Looks like too many college parties. Breakfast/brunch in the restaurant on Sunday morning was horrible. Not much selection. Day old muffins and canned fruit? My omelet was dry and disfigured. The chef explained to my daughter the she couldn't close her omelet so it looked like a kindergarten fritatta. I've had better meals at the waffle house.
The worst experience and a sure sign of management incompetence was a call at 12:30- that's am, the front desk explained that the room had been reserved for a bride and groom after their reception in the hotel. I was asked if we could switch rooms. Since my kids were already asleep for several hours I declined. I was so appalled at the call and request that I was to angry to get back to sleep. I felt so sorry for the newlyweds and can not recall a worse situation in at least several years. Isn't there a cutoff time for bothering guests in their room.
This ranks as the worst Marriott brand experience that I can remember and way below par for my expectations based on any other hotel. Upgraded so that I can be woken in the middle of the night and then fed slop for breakfast. This property obviously needs new management and proper training for the front office staff and food service. I will avoid this property in the future. Fortunately my daughter crossed ISU off her list of colleges so there is no need to go back. Stayed September 2016, traveled with family.
Thanks for taking the time to share this experience, jakethewhale. I understand your frustration! I'll reach out to the hotel regarding this situation and ask that you be contacted directly with assistance.
