Since the union workers are not getting what they want, they voted to go on a 72h strike as of September 9th.
Marriott properties affected are the Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain and the Delta Quebec. Personnel of other hotels still need to vote, so the list will probably grow, as votes in favour of going on strike are between 85 and 100%.
The Montreal Ritz-Carlton joined the strike last-minute.
I'm currently at the Delta Québec and all rooms have received letters that it's supposed to be only for 24h.
There was still breakfast in the Club Lounge this morning though, but at 09h30 is seems that all service was stopped: one of the directors came to clear the breakfast in the lounge, housekeeping just abandoned their trolley in the corridor and around 10h00 the usual noise of horns and rattles started in the street.
