Marco Island: Construction impact?

Considering a week at Marco Island, but I've heard there's ongoing construction.  Any recent experiences there, and any word on when construction will be completed?

Absolutely love Marco Island.  You might find the information in thses threads helpful and maybe clebert has some later news and timeline.

If you go to Marco a nice spot to eat outside by water overlooking the Bay is http://www.cjsonthebay.com/.  Always had great service, drinks and food at CJ's.

Thank you, IAHFlyer!  CJ's looks great, and we're looking for nice places for dinner.  If you hang out at the pool, do you think the construction noise gets annoying?

Love to be able to tell you about the pool and noise should you decide to visit Marco dgzimm however; not having been there since they started the remodel I cannot.  A call to the hotel might be helpful and if you can reach the Manager to ask even better.

Or, hang out on the huge gorgeous Southwest Florida beach that the Marco Marriott enjoys!!

Construction is ongoing, but it doesn't seem to have an adverse impact on the hotel experience.  There is some construction in the front of the property and in the area that will be the new convention center, but the hotel portion is finished.  There are two new restaurants:  Maya where Tropiks used to be and Ario where Kurrents used to be.  Also Kane is up and running (a tiki bar) and Pazzo's pizza and Quinn's are still there.  Here is what it looked like a couple of days ago:  2016-08-15 19.58.00.jpg

Good to know Quinn's will remain as we so love their Stone Crab when it is in season and Bobby has always been wonderful mixing his beverages.

Hey dgzimm! I looked into the construction, and it will be ongoing until the middle of next year. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Lindsey, thanks for the reply!  Do you have an idea if, by May '17, that the towers will be complete?  I'm hoping that by then, the construction noise might be contained.

dgzimm, the hotel room towers (there are 2 towers) are complete, but the convention center portion is ongoing and not supposed to be complete until Dec. 2017.  Also, the Hilton is closed for a massive renovation, and the Marriott timeshares (Crystal Shores) are expanding with a huge construction project.  But those two properties are down the beach aways and not super close to the Marriott, so should be no problems with those.  I was there earlier this week, and construction didn't seem to be bothersome.  The resort is quite large and as IAHFLYR said, the beach is also really expansive.  So it's easy enough to get away from the construction if it's bothersome.  TripAdvisor has some good reviews that discuss construction and whether people found it to be a problem - seems that most were not too bothered by it.

Just finished up 6 nights at Marco.  The construction was not a factor.  In fact, the north tower rooms were undergoing renovations so many of them were not booked leaving the hotel more empty.

When at Quinn's pool, the construction can be heard but it's easy to ignore.  It was somewhat neat to see the cranes towering overhead.  The crew on the job was getting a lot done.  I swear they put up an entire floor in the 6 days we were there.

We asked for and received a room on the north side of the south tower (overlooking the Tiki Pool) so none of the construction could be seen from our balcony but we still had a great view of the gulf.

The worst thing about it all that I can think of is the temporary white tent-like structure they put up on the beach.  It blocks some of the beach view while sitting at the pool.
