Lifetime Status - Recognized?

What happens when you achieve a lifetime status, such as Platinum?  Does Marriott give some notification?

(For each location tag, you will be guided through a 3-step process to add (1) a city and a state or a city and a country, (2) a Marriott brand, and (3) a Marriott hotel.)

I received my lifetime platinum status years ago, and there was no recognition.  When I realized I had reached this designation, I called and inquired. They briefly explained, and sent me a card.

I have close to 2000 nights and 6 million plus points.

There's no recognition on attaining lifetime status. It has to be remembered however that it isn't actually a status at all. Platinum is the status and you need 75 nights each year to maintain it, but once you've stayed 750 nights and earned 2million points Marriott forgoes the annual renewal requirement.

I do think Marriotts missing an opportunity to reinforce its relationship with its customer but I guess that's Marriotts prerogative.

Just plain crazy why they wouldn't want to recognize their most loyal customers...

Only recognition of Lifetime status I remember getting other than when you call Guest Services was once at the PHL Airport hotel and I have no idea how they knew.

Well, by contrast, when I achieved "Lifetime Platinum" status, I received a notice from Marriott and that I'd be receiving new card in postal mail. Every time I call Marriott from either my office land phone, or mobile phone, I'm immediately recognized and asked "how can we help, Mr. Schumpert?" I usually check in at reserved hotel via mobile phone, and upon presenting myself at the check-in desk, I'm thanked for being a loyal Marriott member.Upon my wife checking in alone at Atlanta JW recently, someone at the front desk even offered to escort her to the room, and she was given access to concierge room for breakfast and evening snacks. I arrived a day later and was extended similar courtesies.

I'm not sure what other "recognition" I'm due?

Not a lifetime platinum, but the services at the JW in Atlanta seem to be consistently a notch above most JWs and FS Marriotts.  Mr. Thomas Boyer is the GM there and seems to hire and train staff that are exceptional.  I had a similar experience as yours with the JW in Washington DC.  When I contacted them to request an upgrade since my family was meeting me there for some vacation after I finished a business trip just outside DC, they requested my wife's and daughter's name so that they could ensure they could check in if I arrived after they did.  Since they were flying in separately, this was a nice touch.

I received no notification when I reached LT Gold but I have had several hotel check in people comment on my approaching LT Plat.

To be honest, I'm most concerned about getting the benefits as opposed to being told that I have them.

I received a letter from J.W. Marriott, Jr.  and my card.  This was about 13 years ago.  It's a wonderful benefit and I hope I live long enough to keep enjoying it.  I showed the card to the General Manager at the SEA-TAC Marriott last year and he told me that was the first time he had ever seen the card!!!
