Does Marriott have any plans for true online checkin

Our travels have recently led us to needing to stay in Hiltons more and they have true online checkin. That is, when you check in online you get your room number, and that room is yours. You are able to select from all the available rooms in a category on a floorplan.  Does anyone know if Marriott will move in that direction anytime soon? It is pretty sweet.

It's a very sweet concept and each time I've stayed at a Hilton and selected our room we've got that very room when we arrive.  Wouldn't it be nice if Marriott would adopt this type of idea, but remember this is only 2016!

that would indeed be awesome, for people who use smartphones. It would suck for any other elites that get assigned less desirable rooms because all the good ones have been taken by online check ins. haha

Actually I usually use a computer to select the room, better view of the floorplan.

Hopefully Marriott has been looking at what Hilton has done with this.

That would be wonderful except first they have to get Marriott's mobile app check-in to work well across the board.

on line would be great then they should have a check in kiosk that gives you the key without going to front desk

or ..wait for it....a way to use your phone as the key. How 2014...er 2016 would that be? Of course, there's always the potential to hack and then we find dudes with handlebar moustaches, thick rimmed glasses vaping in our rooms and have to call security!

How about online/mobile check-in followed by a kiosk in the lobby where you can swipe your Marriott Rewards card or your Marriott VISA card which can then also serve as your room key...

On the Hilton app for the hotels that support digital key you have the option when you check in online of getting a digital key on your phone, or goign to the desk and picking up a traditional card key.

          I like the digital key.
