Since I am somewhat of a local to Houston (H-Town) live in The Woodlands some 40 miles north of downtown I was asked by the fearsome twosome of  bejacob and brightlybob to put together some highlights of Houston and the local area.  I also will be including another of our locals and a kind of newbie to Insiders yet a very valuable contributor and fellow Woodlandsite (think that's what they call us) nationwide in on providing Houston tips.

Lets start with flying into Houston's George Bush (Bush 41) Intercontinental Airport (IAH).  For those flying United you could end up in any of five, yes five terminals.  Some of the Regional Jet flights (United Express) could end up in Terminal A, most will be into Terminal B, some into Terminal C, a few into Terminal D and a few into Terminal E.  Terminal D and E are the international terminals for anyone coming in from out of the U.S. like some TIPPLE attendees and you know who you are.

Most of the United Express flights will be using Terminal B as that is the main United Express spot while the mainline United flights such as (A319. A320, B737,B738, B739, B752, B753, B763, B764, B772, B788 and B789) will be parking at Terminal C and E again for the most part with the a couple ending up in Terminal D.......it's a toss up or since the Marriott censors got me I cannot write cr** shoot based on the plane you're flying on, time of day, city you are arriving from......and on and on.  Do not be afraid, it's all good and you can maneuver inside security via the overhead train system called Skyway and also the outside and underground tram called SubwayTrain.

Now for those who decide to check luggage, this gets tricky.  Depending on what terminal you arrive into will depend on what terminal you to visit for baggage claim.  ssindc my friend this is for you......."just remember baggage claim in an airlines last chance to disappoint a passenger."   This is a nice comprehensive list of where to get your checked luggage depending on what terminal you arrive:

Not trying to get you out of town, but when you leave those with United Club memberships here is where you'll find clubs, yes in all terminals except Terminal D (but the new AMEX Centurion Club should be open in Terminal D) and two of them in Terminal C.

I am not at all able to help anyone that is flying into Hobby Airport (HOU) as it's waaaaaaay across town have have not flown from there since the days of TranStar Airlines (look them up) which was in the late 1980, yes I am that old!!

For those who wish to be closer to the water and enjoy some fun without going all the way to Galveston try Kemah Boardwalk - The Fun Never Stops!  Great food and be along the water and enjoy some fine drinks after visiting the The Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston | Gateway to NASA Johnson Space Center.

For those who think they want to spend a day in Galveston at the beach GALVESTON.COM: Official Website of Galveston Island, Texas Tourism & Marketing,  Galveston is not your white sand blue water spot, yet does have some wonderful history at the GALVESTON.COM: The Strand Historic DistrictAnd if you are a water park type person you cannot go wrong visiting Moody Gardens Galveston Texas | Amusement Theme Parks | Houston Attractions | Family & Group Vacation Idea TX.

For our Insider Aviation Geeks Unite! | Marriott Rewards® Insiders right next door to Moody Gardens is Galveston Scholes Field Airport which is the home of Lone Star Flight Museum.

Those of you who are thinking of watching our Official Site of the Houston Texans play on Sunday, September 18th, against the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoy one of if not the best NFL HoustonTexans.com | Tailgating most of the tickets to the home games at NRG Stadium | NRG Park are season ticket holders with very few single game tickets available without paying a premium.  The games are a true first class show and we do love our Texas and Justin James (J.J.) Watt!!!  NRG Stadium is located right next to the Houston https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrodome which is dwarfed by NRG Stadium just off South Loops 610 some 15 minutes from downtown Houston.  So if you want tickets get them early and most likely visit a ticket broker for your purchase.
